Here are the most overrated and most underrated players on each of the NFL teams.
Arizona Cardinals
- Overrated: Defensive End, Darnell Dockett: Dockett's best days are now behind him. A case could be made for quarterback Carson Palmer or cornerback Patrick Peterson.
- Underrated: Running Back, Andre Ellington: Ellington can rip defensives apart with his rushing attack. He will have an impact on this Arizona team for sure.
Atlanta Falcons
- Overrated: Quarterback, Matt Ryan: Many analysts picked Atlanta to win the Super Bowl the past couple seasons. Ryan has only won one playoff game in his career.
- Underrated: Linebacker, Paul Worrilow: One of the few bright spots on this Atlanta team a year ago. He filled in nicely for the injured starters.
Baltimore Ravens
- Overrated: Running Back, Ray Rice: Rice is facing some sort of a suspension coming this season for knocking out his fiancée in Atlantic City. He should not be considered among the elite running backs until he (re)justifies himself as one.
- Underrated: Cornerback, Jimmy Smith: Smith is a future pro bowler that has the tools to be a shut down corner. He will have an impact on Baltimore's defense.
Buffalo Bills
- Overrated: Running Back, CJ Spiller: Spiller gets too much hype going into every season since his rookie season and he hasn't lived up to it. People should not be putting him on their fantasy teams either.
- Underrated: Cornerback, Nickell Robey: Robey quietly had a nice season last year. He has the tools to cover inside their nickel.
Carolina Panthers
- Overrated: Running Back, DeAngelo Williams: Williams is grossly overpaid and is not as good as he once was. His days as a starter could be coming to an end.
- Underrated: Defensive Tackle, Star Lotulelei: Lotulelei will be a future star in this league. He was a big reason why Carolina was successful last season.
Chicago Bears
- Overrated: Cornerback, Charles Tillman: "Peanut" started to show age last season. He struggled against the coverage last season and he is not what he once was.
- Underrated: Wide Receiver, Alshon Jeffery: Jeffery had a breakout season last season. He maybe Chicago's best wide receiver now.
Cincinnati Bengals
- Overrated: Quarterback, Andy Dalton: This team is built to win now. Dalton is 0-for-3 in playoff games and he is the teams cancer.
- Underrated: Defensive End, Geno Atkins: Atkins missed most of the season last year after tearing his ACL. Cincinnati will realize that how much Atkins was missed.
Cleveland Browns
- Overrated: Quarterback, Johnny Manziel: There is no rookie in the NFL that has more hype surrounding him than Manziel. Nobody knows what kind of quarterback he will be and people are treating Cleveland like their a lock to the playoffs, which they're not.
- Underrated: Safety, Tashaun Gipson: Gipson had a breakout year in 2013. Too much attention is surrounding Manziel, but there should be attention around Gipson after a breakout season.
Dallas Cowboys
- Overrated: Cornerback, Brandon Carr: Carr has not lived up to expectations in the "Big-D". He needs to step up his game or he could be gone in 2015.
- Underrated: Wide Receiver, Marvin Williams: Williams quietly had a breakout season last year. He is a critical piece to the Dallas offense.
Denver Broncos
- Overrated: Wide Receiver, Wes Welker: Welker was a number one receiver in New England. He is no longer the go to guy that he once was and you can make the case Welker is the third best receiver on Denver's roster.
- Underrated: Linebacker, Von Miller: Miller was quietly missed after he tore his ACL toward the end of the regular season a year ago. His return makes Denver's defense even better.
Detroit Lions
- Overrated: Running Back, Reggie Bush: Bush was once considered the best running back in the league and that's no longer the case. He had a career high in fumbles lost last season.
- Underrated: Guard, Larry Warford: As a rookie, he was dominant at right guard. He should have been in the Pro Bowl. With a year of seasoning, he may end up a pro bowler this January.
Green Bay Packers
- Overrated: Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Julius Peppers: Peppers did not play well last season at all. Maybe a change of scenery will rejuvenate him.
- Underrated: Nose Tackle, BJ Raji: Raji has been great on Green Bay's defensive line. You can make a case that he is indeed Green Bay's second best defensive player behind linebacker Clay Matthews.
Houston Texans
Overrated: Running Back, Arian Foster: Foster is starting to break down health wise. And how much better is he than a young player who would get the same number of carries?
Underrated: Linebacker, Brian Cushing: Cushing tore a ligament last season and missed some time in a lost season. If he returns to forum, Houston could end up back in the postseason after least seasons disaster.
Indianapolis Colts
Overrated: Cornerback, Vontae Davis: Davis's production has gone down from 2012 to 2013. People view him as an elite cornerback, which he is not and he is facing a huge season coming up.
Underrated: Defensive End, Cory Redding: Redding doesn't rack up a ton of numbers, but he is key to their run defense. He is one of those players that show why stats are overrated.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Overrated: Guard, Zane Beadles: He's a solid player, but was he worth all that money? He was the weak link on Denver's line last season.
Underrated: Defensive Tackle, Sen'Derrick Marks: Marks was really good when he was fresh. Jacksonville needs to cut down on his snaps this upcoming season though.
Kansas City Chiefs
Overrated: Wide Receiver, Dwayne Bowe: Bowe gets treated like he is a top ten receiver in the league. His stats do not show it.
Underrated: Defensive Tackle, Mike DeVito: DeVito is a grinder who doesn't do much in terms of pass rush, but he is good against the run. All teams need players like him.
Miami Dolphins
Overrated: Wide Receiver, Mike Wallace: Wallace was overpaid by Miami two winters ago. His quarterback drop off from Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Rothlisberger to Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill certainly proved his status of whether he is elite or not.
Underrated: Defensive End, Jared Odrick: Ordick turned in his best season last season. The former first-round pick has turned into a quality starter on their line.
Minnesota Vikings
Overrated: Wide Receiver, Greg Jennings: Like Wallace, Jennings was overpaid but by Minnesota. The quarterback drop off from Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder also proved whether he is elite or not.
Underrated: Tackle, Phil Loadholt: Loadholt is a right tackle, which means it's almost impossible for him to sniff a Pro Bowl. But he had a heck of a season on the right side for the Vikings in 2013.
New England Patriots
Overrated: Wide Receiver, Danny Amendola: New England signed Amendola two winters ago to replace former receiver Wes Welker. He has been nothing but injury prone and his numbers declined since leaving St. Louis.
Underrated: Safety, Devin McCourty: McCourty has made a nice transition from corner to safety. He off the range you need on the back end.
New Orleans Saints
Overrated: Cornerback, Champ Bailey: Bailey was a weak link on Denver's secondary the past two seasons. His days as an elite player are behind him.
Underrated: Defensive Tackle, Akiem Hicks: Hicks doesn't get much attention on the defense, but he does a lot of the grunt work. He did get five sacks last season and has a chance to be special.
New York Giants
Overrated: Running Back, David Wilson: Wilson was electric in his rookie season in 2012. 2013 was a somewhat of a sophomore slump with heavy expectations and was out for most of the season with a spinal stenosis.
Underrated: Cornerback, Prince Amukamara: Amukamara was one of the few bright spots during a disappointing season for the Giants. Now he has to show he can do it again.
New York Jets
Overrated: Wide Receiver, Eric Decker: Decker is next in line with Minnesota's Greg Jennings and Miami's Mike Wallace for the wide receiver free agent bust. Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning to New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith is a huge drop off.
Underrated: Defensive Tackle, Damon Harrison: You know about Muhammad Wilkerson and Sheldon Richardson, the two players who play on either side of Harrison. But he is a big load in the middle of the defense and key to their run defense.
Oakland Raiders
Overrated: Running Back, Darren McFadden: McFadden has all the tools, the big-play speed being the best of them, but he just can't do enough to keep him out of this spot. When can he prove to be the talent that we think he is as a runner?
Underrated: Linebacker, Sio Moore: Moore had an impressive rookie season in 2013. He should be even better with a year under his belt has the speed needed to play the position the way it needs to be played.
Philadelphia Eagles
Overrated: Quarterback, Nick Foles: Foles had a career year last season after filling in for the injured former Eagles quarterback Michael Vick. Don't be surprised if Foles numbers significantly drop from a year ago.
Underrated: Cornerback, Brandon Boykin: Boykin doesn't start, but as the nickel corner he is a key to their defense. He doesn't have the size to be a full-time starter outside, but he is plenty good on the inside.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Overrated: Running Back, LeGarrette Blount: Blount gained a lot of interest on the free agent market after having a career game in a playoff game against the Indianapolis Colts, while playing for New England. He is unlikely to post career numbers in the near future.
Underrated: Tackle, Kelvin Beachum: Pittsburgh have had line issues for a long time, but Beachum stepped in and played well last season at left tackle. It's his job now.
St. Louis Rams
Overrated: Quarterback, Sam Bradford: Bradford has not lived up to expectations the past two seasons. Injuries are certainly part of the reason why, but when can he actually stay healthy a full season?
Underrated: Tackle, Joe Barksdale: They got Barksdale from Oakland and he was a pleasant surprise at right tackle. He played so well that 2014 first-round pick Greg Robinson will start his career at left guard, rather than tackle.
San Diego Chargers
Overrated: Cornerback, Brandon Flowers: Yes, Flowers is only on a one-year deal, but he did not play well in 2013. There's a reason he's on the market and he did went to the Pro Bowl last season.
Underrated: Tight End, Ladarius Green: Green is a back up tight end for starter Antonio Gates. Green will have an impact on the field this upcoming season for San Diego.
San Francisco 49ers
Overrated: Guard, Mike Iupati: Iupati has done some good things, he's in a contract year coming up, but he didn't play that well in 2013. Yet he was named to the Pro Bowl, but couldn't play after breaking an ankle in the NFC Championship Game.
Underrated: Linebacker, Ahmad Brooks: Brooks is the overlooked linebacker in their four-man group, but he is a good player who doesn't get the due he deserves. He is steady, if not special.
Seattle Seahawks
Overrated: Linebacker, Bruce Irvin: Irvin was a first round draft pick in 2012 and was suspended last season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. Teammate Bobby Wagner, who is also a linebacker was a second round pick and Wagner has had more of an impact than Irvin.
Underrated: Quarterback, Russell Wilson: Wilson has been outstanding in his first two seasons in Seattle. You can make the case that he's overrated because Seattle has the leagues best defense and their offense is not the best, but Wilson is the perfect quarterback for a team that lives and dies on defense.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Overrated: Quarterback, Josh McCown: McCown filled in for Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Culter when Cutler was hurt. McCown put up good numbers with Chicago as a backup, but will he be good as a starter?
Underrated: Tackle, Demar Doston: Doston was one of the few bright spots on a bad line last season. At 26, he's got a lot of good football in front of him.
Tennessee Titans
Overrated: Quarterback, Jake Locker: Locker has been injury prone throughout his career. He needs to prove he can stay healthy a whole season or else he may lose his starting job.
Underrated: Defensive Tackle, Jurrell Casey: Casey was a force at times last season, but didn't get much due. He has to adjust now to a new system, but he has the quickness and the power to do it.
Washington Redskins
Overrated: Quarterback, Robert Griffin III: Griffin was a huge disappointment in his sophomore season, which his former coach Mike Shannahan benched him for his poor play and he was not healthy. This is year three for Griffin and it is make or break for him and the honeymoon is over.
Underrated: Defensive Tackle, Chris Baker: Baker is a backup, but he is an effective player in that role. Every team needs a player like Baker on the roster.
